Schuylerville CSD unveils new turf field

SCHUYLERVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Schuylerville Central School District will unveil and reopen its new turf field on Monday. The new field boasts the district's new logo and covers the same square footage as the field prior. Get the latest news, weather, sports and entertainment delivered right to your inbox! The field before this one was installed in 2010 and was used for 13 years. According to the school district, the new synthetic turf installation was paid for using district reserves of $684,785 and didn't require a public vote. “We look forward to the continued benefits the new turf field will provide,” said Superintendent Gregg Barthelmas. “It’s a communal space that all of our students have access to, as well as the community. ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Ill. - A frightening and deadly episode occurred overnight on the Stan Musial Veteran's Memorial Bridge. The Illinois State Police shared that gunfire erupted on the bridge, leaving one person dead and another injured.Illinois State Police say at this point there are no suspects. Everything unfolded on Interstate 70 eastbound near the Packers Avenue overpass just off the bridge. Investigators are calling what happened a homicide; the violence unfolded at about 10:50 p.m. last night.According to the ISP, gunfire struck a white SUV as it was traveling east on the Stan Musial Bridge from Missouri into Illinois. A man has been arrested and another person is in custody after a deadly hit-and-run allegedly involving a mother and her son. According to LAPD officials, calls of the collision originally came out to police at 5:20 p.m. Sunday evening at the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and Burlington Avenue in L.A.'s Westlake neighborhood. Preliminary investigation revealed that the driver was heading east on Wilshire when his vehicle jumped the curb, struck a traffic light and eventually collided with two pedestrians. Nearly 2 dozen detained in shooting call at downtown L.A. warehouse One of the pedestrians, who was not identified by police, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other pedestrian, a woman in her late 50s, was transported to a hospital in critical condition, law enforcement officials said. OAKLAND — A man standing outside a disabled vehicle Sunday night on Highway 13 died after he was struck by a vehicle that kept going, the California Highway Patrol said.The man’s name was not immediately released pending notification of relatives.The fatal collision happened about 10:46 p.m. Sunday in the southbound lanes of Highway 13 south of Lincoln Avenue, the CHP said..CHP Officer Adib Zeid said the man had been a passenger in a Toyota sedan that became disabled after it was involved in a collision a few moments earlier with another vehicle that kept going.The man was standing outside the disabled vehicle when he was hit by a black sedan, which also failed to remain at the scene, Zeid said. The search for a missing hiker is in its sixth day in the Sierra Nevada foothills near the town of Arnold.Ann Herford.
